A DELICATE FIRE | Pinchgut Opera
A 60-minute opera film, featuring music by Baroque composer Barbara Strozzi, written when she was 25 years old. A ground-breaking project for Pinchgut, the film was born out of restrictions imposed on the performing arts by COVID-19 – in particular, the ban on public performances for much of 2020. Featuring an all-Australian cast and creative team, the filming took place in a disused Sydney suburban warehouse. Winner of multiple awards including Best Experimental Film at the ATOM Awards and Best Australian Feature Film at the Sydney Women’s International Film Festival.

“The film, blending gritty surrealism with more classical elements of music and dance, is an uncanny and unashamedly Australian meditation on the arts, love and isolation …”
